The Rainbow Club dinner is the Prescott Pride Center’s special way of acknowledging the amazing support of our major donors. We couldn’t have made it this far without the incredible generosity of this select group of people, and we want them to know just how much we appreciate their commitment to our organization. This year’s thank-you dinner will be catered by Valarie’s Originals (see ad on this page). She’ll be serving up a fantastic four-course meal with an assortment of appetizers, three delicious entrée choices, and some truly decadent desserts.
If it sounds like something you don’t want to miss, then don’t! Just join the Pride Center’s Rainbow Club by January 15th and we’ll add your name to the guest list. To become a Rainbow Club member, fill out the partnership form (PDF) and make your contribution today. Once we process your donation, we’ll call you with the details for dinner. Hope to see you there!

If you missed our previous showings of “For the Bible Tells Me So,” here’s one more chance to see it. PFLAG of Prescott Valley will be screening the film at the new Prescott Valley public library. “For the Bible Tells Me So” is an award-winning documentary that explores the intersection between religion and homosexuality through the eyes of five Christian families. Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson and the former House Majority Leader Rep. Richard Gephardt are among those interviewed. The documentary addresses scripture and biblical scholarship and also includes comments from such respected voices as Bishop Desmond Tutu, Harvard’s Peter Gomes, Orthodox Rabbi Steve Greenberg, and Reverend Jimmy Creech.
The movie will be followed by an open community dialogue with a panel of local residents, and light refreshments will be served. This event is free of charge, but donations will gladly be accepted to support the ongoing efforts of the Prescott Valley PFLAG chapter. For those of you who don’t know, PFLAG of Prescott Valley is a group of community members who formed a PFLAG chapter to help create a culture of love, respect, and appreciation for all people living in our community.
If you’d like more information about this public outreach event or are in need of PFLAG support, please call the Pride Center at (928) 445-8800 or email us. We’ll connect you with a PFLAG representative right away!

When asked how our newsletter writer continues to keep events sounding fresh after they’ve been going on for years and years, the answer is “it ain’t easy.” As a matter of fact, we’ve finally reached a point where the only way to make the Breakfast Club sound new is to write about it in Pig Latin. That sort of relates to bacon, doesn’t it? Read on for details…

If you didn’t take Pig Latin in high school and need help deciphering the details, please use this online translator. You can copy and paste the Pig Latin paragraph from our web site right into the translator. It may take a minute to do the conversion because Pig Latin is definitely one of the more complex languages, but we’re sure it’s worth the wait.
If you don’t have that kind of time, just call Frankie at (928) 443-8520 for complete details. And if you can think of any other clever new ways to publicize the good old Breakfast Club, please give us a “ollerhay.”

Thursday, February 25th • 6 pm
Casa Bonita, 1317 E. Gurley Street, Prescott
Okay, we’ve flat out had enough of each other’s cooking, right? It’s time to pry open our wallets and let the professionals start feeding us again. You heard it right, we’re done with DiningIN for awhile and we’re back to DiningOUT!
We’ll start the year out with a wonderful dinner at Papa’s Italian Restaurant. They serve all the classic Italian entrées, plus fabulous desserts for a perfect finishing touch. So come on out and join us for some great food and family fun at Papa’s. The owners have agreed to devote half of the dining room to our group and they’re also willing to do separate checks. If you’d like to attend the January DiningOUT, please RSVP to Frankie at (928) 443-8520 by Tuesday, January 26th. This event will be a tight squeeze that’s limited to the first 25 callers, so guarantee your spot as soon as possible.
In February, we’re spicing things up at Casa Bonita in Prescott. They have a huge variety of Mexican favorites and a margarita menu that’s beyond compare. We have a lot more room to spread out in Casa Bonita, so we can accommodate at least 35 to 40 people for the February dinner. RSVPs are still important, though, since the staff needs to set up prior to our arrival. To reserve a chair at the February dinner, please call Frankie at (928) 443-8520 by Tuesday, February 23rd.
Sunday, February 14th • Events at 1:30 pm; Board at ~3 pm
Prescott Pride Center, 111 Josephine Street, Prescott

For more info or to add an item to the agenda, please call Frankie at (928) 443-8520.
Tuesdays, January 5th & 19th and February 2nd & 16th
Rex & Roger’s Rainbow Theater (Call for Directions)
Rex & Roger continue to host men-only movie nights in their home theater. They show mainstream gay-oriented movies (no porn) and over a dozen men regularly attend. Light refreshments are provided at no charge and there is lots of social time after the films. Regular email announcements go out with information about upcoming features. To be added to the private list, send an email to Roger with “Movie” in the subject line. For more information or directions to Rex & Roger’s, please call (928) 759-7302.
It is with great sadness that we announce the end of Parents’ Night Out. Our current PNO hosts are unable to facilitate this event in 2010, so it has been discontinued. We’d like to thank Chris, Lisa, and Kylin for all the work they put into creating such fun activities for the kids in our community. We really appreciate their dedication to providing this great service.
If anyone out there is interested in taking over Parents’ Night Out or creating new events for GLBT families, please contact Frankie at (928) 443-8520.

Prescott Pride Center, 111 Josephine Street, Prescott
Talk Time has moved to an earlier time, but they’re still meeting on the second and fourth Monday of every month. For those of you who don’t know, Talk Time is a women’s discussion group for lesbians 50 and over. The meetings are an open forum format and singles and couples are welcome. There’s no charge for attending, but donations are requested to pay for the use of the Prescott Pride Center. For more information on Talk Time, please contact Shirley at (928) 273-4204.
A Note from the Talk Time Gals:
All you lesbians out there who haven’t attended Talk Time surely missed out on some great fun this past year. Members of the Talk Time group met several times to have potlucks and dinner dates, attend movies and a concert, and ride through the “Valley of Lights” in Prescott Valley. At the end of the year, we all attended a Christmas party at Chris & Lori’s home. We also donated much-needed items to the Prescott Area Women’s Shelter, which gave us all a great feeling of helping others during the holidays. So why not come to a meeting and help plan a movie or potluck or even a day trip? It’s fun and fulfilling and the friendships that have formed are great. Join the fun and attend the next Talk Time Gals!
New Schedule! Sundays, January 17th & February 7th • 1:30 pm

T-Time is a once-a-month open discussion group for trans-identified or gender-questioning people and people who want to learn more about transgender issues. The open forum style allows participants to share information and offer much-needed peer support in a safe and supportive environment. Come as you are at 1:30 on the last Sunday of each month and we’ll leave when the discussion is done. For more information about T-Time, please contact Rose at (928) 606-3019 or by email.
